DESCRIPTION

Plane figures are flat two-dimensional (2D) shape. A plane figure can be made of straight lines, curved lines, or both straight and curved lines.

TYPES OF PLANE FIGURE :

1. SQUARE

1. All sides are the same length .
2. Every angle is right.
3. Has two diagonals of equal length and intersects  in the middle  and forms  a right angle.
4. Each angle  divided by two is equal in magnitude  to the  diagonals.
5. Has four symmetry axes.

2. RECTANGLE

a. Has 4 sides, each side has same length
(AB = CD and AC = BD)
b. Has two pairs of parallel sides
(AB//CD and AD//BC)
c. Has four right angles (90˚)
(A, B, C, D)
d. Has two diagonal lines that intersect perpendicular or elbow
(AC = BD)
e. Has two folding symmetries
(A  B and C  D , A  C and B  D)
f. Has two rotary symmetries
( AC and BD , AA and BB)

3. PARALLELOGRAM

a. Has 4 sides, each side has same length
(AB = CD and AD = BC)
b. Has two pairs of parallel sides
(AB//CD and AD//BC)
c. Has 4 angles, the opposite angle is the same
(∠A =∠C,∠B =∠D)
d. Has two diagonal pieces that intersect and have the same length
(AC=BD)
e. Has 2 rotary symmetries and has no folding symmetry

4. KITE

a. Has 2 pairs of the same length
(AD = AB and BC=CD)
b. Has a acute angle
   (∠B = ∠D)
c. Has 2 diagonal lines (AC and BD) that are perpendicular intersecting and of different lengths, has 1 folding symmetry and 1 rotary symmetry

5. CIRCLE

a. Only has one side
b. Does not have an Angle
c. It has infinite folding symmetry
d. It has infinite rotary symmetry
d. The distance from the central point to any side is always the same
